The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently released the syllabus for the NEET (UG) – 2023 examination. The syllabus can be found on the NMC website at https://www.nmc.org.in/neet/neet-ug. It is important for candidates to be familiar with the syllabus as the question paper will be based on it.
The NEET (UG) – 2023 exam pattern consists of four subjects, namely Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. Each subject is divided into two sections: Section A and Section B. Section A consists of 35 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while Section B has 15 questions. However, candidates are given the choice to attempt any 10 questions from Section B.

- For Section A (MCQs), candidates need to choose one option corresponding to the correct answer or the most appropriate answer. The marking scheme for Section A is as follows:
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (4)
- Any incorrect option marked: Minus one mark (-1)
- Unanswered: No mark (0)
- If more than one option is correct: Four marks (4) will be awarded to those who have marked any of the correct options
- If all options are correct: Four marks (4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question
- For Section B (MCQs), candidates need to attempt any 10 questions out of the 15 questions given. The marking scheme for Section B is as follows:
- Correct answer: Four marks (4)
- Incorrect answer: Minus one mark (-1)
- Unanswered: No mark (0)
- If more than one option is correct: Four marks (4) will be awarded to those who have marked any of the correct options
- If all options are correct: Four marks (4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question
- If a question is found to be incorrect or dropped: Four marks (4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question
